Humanism in Renaissance Art
The Renaissance, occurring between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, was a period of great rebirth. Humanism, an important part of the Renaissance, brought about more color, perspective, and realism within the artistic community. A few aspects of humanism include individualism and Greece-Roman influences. Humanist ideals manifested themselves in works of Renaissance art such as Michelangelo Sistine Chapel and his David sculpture, as well as Repeal's School of Athens. Individualism emerged in the works of Michelangelo along with numerous other Italian artists of the time.In Michelangelo Sistine Chapel painting, each of the over one hundred people depicted has its own distinct facial features. Prior to the Renaissance, artists would replicate the same prosaic face onto all of the people in a large group. However, Michelangelo preferred to distinguish every individual figure present. He also ventured so far as to include a depiction of God in the form of he paintings benefactor, Pope Julius II. The characteristics of individualism repeatedly appear in the works of Italian Renaissance artists. The prevalence of humanist ideals is also present through the inclusion of Greek and Roman themes. The statue of David by Michelangelo was a sculpture created between 1501 and 1504 featuring a nude male representing the biblical hero David. Davit's contrasts pose is the Renaissance interpretation of the common Greek theme of a casually standing heroic figure. Another ancient Greece-Roman theme represented in the statue is the idea of a biblical hero depicted as a supreme athletic embodiment. Additionally, Repeal's School of Athens, painted between 1 509 and 1 510, conveys classical Greek and Roman ideals. Aristotle and Plato, well known Greek philosophers, serve as the central focus of the scene.Furthermore, the building portrayed in the painting has the rounded appearance and incorporation of columns used commonly in Romanesque architecture. Also, there are two statue s visible in the background of the painting: one is of the Greek god Apollo, the god of light and cheery, and the second is of the Roman goddess Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. A myriad of Italian artists were influenced by the humanist ideals of the great thinkers. The likes of Michelangelo and Raphael used these principles of the great Renaissance humanists to advance their artwork. Humanism in Renaissance Art By illegible

Medicare Budget Crisis Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Medicare Budget Crisis - Essay Example Critics claim that Americaââ¬â¢s medical system is one of the failing ones mainly because of its expenditure and lack of autonomy on the responsible parties. As of today, about 44 million Americans (approximately 16 percent) lack any sort of medical insurance (Taylor, 2012). This is extremely absurd given that the government strives a lot to see its subordinates sustain their health. This paper will seek to discuss five Medicaid suggestions set forth by five different senators and provide one more suggestion, which appears more substantial when implemented. Senator 1 Senator 1 suggested to the Congress that the government should pass the cost of Medicaid to the states. A closer outlook into this suggestion shows that passing the cost of Medicaid to the states would have negative implications since studies show that most of these states might not be in a position to settle the expenses (Arnold, R2011). Even though this may seem hard and somewhat intolerable, the brighter part of th e suggestion posits that the government will be able to provide medical assistance to its citizens without many huddles. This is so because the states will be the ones responsible for their own medical expenses, which is more considerable when compared to the former (White, 2003). This is an indication that this suggestion is advantageous to the government and the citizens as well as the states since it is a way of distributing resources to the states. It facilitates easier access to medical aid to every stateââ¬â¢s people making it reliable and affordable (Arnold, 2010). Nevertheless, noting that this suggestion is disadvantageous to agencies involved is crucial. If the government happens to resolve into passing on medical care cost to the states, many injustices will take place (Taylor, 2012). For one, the cost of settling any medical expenses incurred or getting medical insurance would be very high and therefore the states would not be able to cater for its citizens. Generally , the cost of Medicaid would only be worse due to its high cost when passed on to the stateââ¬â¢s budget structure (Arnold, 2010). According to senator one, passing on the cost of Medicaid to the states would indicate that very many Americans would fail to cater for their medical care hence go for years without health care. This is very taunting to many citizens, as they would face difficulties when it comes to Medicaid (Arnold, R2011). Senator 2 With reference to the current system of medical care in the US, senator twoââ¬â¢s suggestion is very relevant and advantageous to almost every American. Based on the idea that the government must alter the definition of some identification such as ââ¬Å"poorâ⬠into those people who are virtually homeless, it is seeable that the government can save the presumed amount, which is $500 billion (Taylor, 2012). Altering the Medicaid qualifications is an advantage that the government may consider putting into place if it wishes to have its cost of health care decline and pave way for easier allocation of budget to other departments within the government (White, 2003). Additionally, lowering the threshold line, which is set by the Federal Poverty Line, can end up being a very essential tool towards realizing the predetermined savings amount in the Medicaid sector (Arnold, R2011). On the other end, understanding that the second suggestion can come along with several negative effects is of great essence to every party involved. In any case, if the government results into implementing

The Effect Of Hamiltonian And Jeffersonian Political Philosophy On The Essay
The Effect Of Hamiltonian And Jeffersonian Political Philosophy On The Development Of American Political Attitudes Between 1790 And 1860 - Essay Example In the history of Americaââ¬â¢s development, there are two key political figured referred to as the core of the nationââ¬â¢s political division: Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. The philosophies and political ideas of these two philosophers inspired several political actions in essential events during our great nationââ¬â¢s birth in the 1820s. On the side of Hamilton, the government was supposed to address people matters meaning that there should be the establishment of federal law controlling the states and focusing on financial gain. On the other hand, Jefferson believed that the government had no responsibility to deal with state affairs and the peopleââ¬â¢s rights. Since these two sides were contradicting, some people believed that establishing the two parties was not a good idea, while others believed that these parties would result to a bizarrely moderate nation. On the right side of Hamilton, the government was supposed to address people matters meaning tha t there should be the establishment of federal law controlling the states and focusing on financial gain. During the Marbury V. Madisonââ¬â¢s case, federalist Marbury William did not get the position as a Supreme Court member as he expected from the current president during that time, Thomas Jefferson withheld the official documents. Therefore, it happened that Marshall insisted for his new governmental position not for political or moral standing, but the reason of wealth and status he was to gain, making his requirements not to politically harm President Jefferson, but due to status and financial gain it would cost him (DBQ #9. Doc .8). The political leaders had feared that, the citizens were educated and wild enabling them to run themselves. For instance, there was the Shayââ¬â¢s Rebellion whereby threads of U.S. laws were about to be undone through mass rioting, which were uncontrollable, in which Massachusettsââ¬â¢ federalist gave a talk on the recent episodes, arguing that there existed an ââ¬Å"excess of democracyâ⬠amongst the American people, strengthening Federalist support until the 1812 War (DBQ #5, Doc. #9). However, the Federalists often came up with opportunistic plans. An example was Federalist John Randolph who realized how simple it would be to seize land from British colony while it was busy concentrating with its war in France (DBQ #7, Doc. #3). These federalist partiesââ¬â¢ policies for financial gain and Federal control were essential for ensuring a realistic government, although often brought conflict from those whose beliefs were from the Jeffersonian left side. On the other hand, Jefferson had a belief that the government had no responsibility to deal with stateââ¬â¢s affairs and the peopleââ¬â¢s rights. Such people acted against the governmentââ¬â¢s actions that would affect peoples' affairs and rights like the 1798 Sedition Act. The government, according to this Act was to limit what the press would say and represent (DBQ #6, doc. #5). Politicians such as Democratic-Republican George Hay protested about the Act arguing that it was unconstitutional and had limitations on Americansââ¬â¢ liberties (DBQ #6, DOC. #8). They also portrayed a negative attitude towards the 1812 War, whereby people such as Democratic-Republic Huge Nelson stated that the war was not only about British threatening on the financial operations, but about also contravening the Americanââ¬â¢s rights, which British had captured and armed (DBQ #7, DOC. #7). Their liberty belief was extended by those who had the education and wealth. Whereby, in the year 1821 Democrats such as Nathan Stanford worked tirelessly to ensure that all whites had voting rights including adult men, non-Irish, and all those who were qualified to vote claiming that voting rights should be for all qualified citizens but not the educated and the rich (DBQ #8, DOC. #1). People from these two parties
